Remembering Ursula Hudson, President Slow Food GermanyTIP
The Indigenous Partnership (TIP) and its alliances of food communities and organizations grieve the passing away of Ursula Hudson, President of Slow Food Germany and member of the Slow Food International Executive Committee, last Friday (July 10, 2020).
After receiving the news of her passing, Chairman, North East Slow Food, and Agrobiodiversity (NESFAS) and Coordinator TIP, Phrang Roy, expressed his sadness and also shared, “I think she was the wisest and most proactive International Councilor of Slow Food. We will miss her dearly and her deep interest in indigenous peoples’ issues. She was a great supporter of the Indigenous Terra Madre that was hosted in Shillong in 2015 and she tried her best to help get German support for the event.”
A professor of Cultural Studies, she also taught at various universities in Germany and England. This gave her a deep understanding of various issues of different communities and with Slow Food the unique dimension into the shaping of the related movements and their vision for the future.
TIP and partners will miss this champion of “good, clean, fair” food whose dignified and subtle manner of dialogue connected many bridges of alliances. It joins Slow Food in its time of loss in honouring her memory and wishing peace and strength to her family and friends.
